Starting Salary Range: $90,000 – $105,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This is a senior developer position, open for an experienced programmer to lead and implement complex development projects on an institutional scale. We need a full-stack developer with proven fluency in front-end and back-end technologies and the ability to assess and learn new tools and methodologies as needed. This position also requires flexibility, openness to changing technologies and development cultures, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of campus staff and roles, including operations, application administrators, business analysts, functional/testing leads, and other developers.

Full-stack developer, working with Oracle RDBMS, Peopletools, and RESTful web services on the back-end, and PHP MVC frameworks for custom application development. Proficient with HTML, CSS, & Javascript frameworks for front-end UI/UX development, including responsive design that also meets accessibility standards. Collaborates with business analysts, subject matter experts, and the development team to bridge gaps in services not provided in the delivered Peoplesoft product or to solve campus business problems through custom-developed applications, inter-faces, or SaaS implementations.

Leads development projects as needed, selecting appropriate design strategies and architecture, coordinating development tasks & code deployment with other team members, and pushing the project through testing cycles and production.

Supports existing code bases on a daily basis, resolving issues reported by end users or analysts.

Our academic system is an implementation of Peoplesoft/Oracle Campus Solutions, working knowledge of Peopletools is a bonus, though not a pre-requirement as training is provided.

Brings experience with SaaS implementations in an institutional or enterprise context, and knowledge of integration tools and API methodologies.

While not required, experience in continuous integration and/or DevOps culture will be of considerable service to our team. As more platforms at UCSC move toward AWS hosting and management, our team roles & responsibilities will be shifting toward a DevOps model, requiring increased collaboration and communication as well as learning and honing the skills required for continuous integration/delivery.

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

• Experience with the full systems development lifecycle.

• Full-stack development experience.

• Experience with web service construction, testing, & usage.

• Experience with batch processing, data migrations, and conversions.
